The company was founded on September 6, 1953 in Cracow, it received name 'Wood Work Cooperative Podkarpacie'. In 1956 a production plant and office was moved to Mszana Dolna. In the beginning the cooperative operates as a sawmill, and its main products are horse carts, boards, wooden boxes and wheelbarrows. Afterwards, to diverse the product portfolio, company starts manufacturing cabinets and cupboards. Later on, thanks to production of metal & wood chairs and tables, the company develops rapidly. In addition to the production activity Meblomet participates in the local educational process by founding in 1959 and running Vocational School and sport section “Start”.
The company perfectly understands needs of the local society and acts for its benefit. As a result of those actions the services centre is set up in a new building. The range of services is enormous, including: repair of agricultural machinery, electronic equipment, cars, vulcanization, battery charging services, blacksmithing, shoemaking, medical and even dental care. In 1969 the company receives a new name „Meblomet”. In that time company grows fast, opens a new production site in the nearby city Limanowa, while the second one is being built in Szczyrzyc.
In the 1970s Meblomet stabilizes its market position. The products are fully recognized both in Poland and abroad. The company wins a long-term contract on production of upholstery to very popular car SYRENA-LUX which is a great appreciation for the company. In this decade Meblomet starts to produce complete equipment for cafes and restaurants in the Soviet Union. The company targets not only in achieving a success in the market, but also providing employees with opportunities for development and leisure activities. Meblomet opens the nursery school.
In the 1980s Meblomet continues and develops its collaboration with domestic and international partners. Moreover, numerous innovations are being brought into manufacturing and management process, e.g. a first powder coating plant in the region. Meblomet's great success is establishing cooperation with swedish IKEA. Sport section „Turbacz” (first called „Start”) becomes very popular and wins many competitions. In 1985 the football team wins the first prize in the province class and promotes to an interprovincial class. However the greatest achievements belong to Mr Jan Ziemianin, who represents „Turbacz” and wins many awards in the local and national Biathlon competitions.
The beginning of 1990s is a very challenging period of time for Meblomet. The company goes into liquidation twice, but it manages to survive eventually. In the following years company systematically restores its position on the market, also thanks to collaboration with IKEA during those days. Undoubtedly, the company's development was supported by introducing Integrated Management System and purchasing of Wagner automatic powder coating plant.
The company flexibly adapts itself to the changing market conditions by investing in machine park and introducing innovations into production and management. All that resulted in establishing cooperation with European leaders of recreational facilities and sports wall systems. The company's products as well as applied production technologies and management system are at very high level, as evidenced by the maintenance of certification ISO, FSC and obtaining a certificate INT for school furniture. What is more, Meblomet as a first company in the Central and Eastern Europe received AKZO NOBEl Approved Applicator certificate, which proves that powder coating is of the highest quality.
Meblomet began the company's next decade with the celebratory jubilee. To meet the growing demands of contractors and clients, the company has invested in the purchase of another surface preparation line, including shot blasting and powder coating machines. Meblomet products have been delivered to recipients in very remote places, such as Australia and Kuwait. Beer furniture sets were exported to the Czech Republic and England, where they equipped pubs and restaurants during the summer Olympics in London. Meblomet was appreciated on the local market, winning in 2013 the statuette of Limanowa District Business Leader. In 2016, we designed and manufactured a new series of outdoor fitness devices, which thanks to its unique design and construction is a complete novelty on the current market.
